Senior Credit Analyst and Credit Administration Manager

What You Will Do:

In this role you will be accountable for overseeing the credit administration department, performing credit analysis on the more complex credit relationships. Work with Leadership of the Commercial Lending and Credit Administration functions in monitoring credit risk, providing data for risk management reporting as well as assessments of overall credit trends. Responsible for identifying, monitoring, and reporting on credit risk in the commercial loan portfolio while ensuring adherence to the credit union’s lending policies, regulatory standards, and risk appetite. Provide leadership and mentoring to credit staff, ensuring consistent quality, accuracy, and timeliness in analysis and reporting. Partners with the Chief Lending Officer, Business Solutions Relationship Managers, and executive leadership to support sound underwriting, portfolio quality, and sustainable growth aligned with the credit union’s mission. 

•    Oversee the daily operations and performance of the Credit Administration Department, providing direction, and guidance. Lead department initiatives to improve workflow
      efficiency, data accuracy, and turnaround time.
•    Prepare, review, and approve comprehensive credit memoranda, including new loan requests, renewals, and annual reviews, with clear recommendations and risk ratings with a
      focus on larger and more complex commercial borrowers. Review and validate collateral valuations, appraisals, and borrowing base reports to ensure adequate risk mitigation.
•    Maintain strong familiarity with all commercial loan relationships and ensure ongoing portfolio monitoring, including financial reporting, covenant tracking, and risk rating
     accuracy.
•    Identify and escalate emerging credit risks, potential problem loans, and portfolio trends to senior management and the Credit Committee.
•    Serve as a resource to the Commercial Lending team, ensuring proper loan structure, policy compliance, and regulatory adherence. Partner with relationship managers to
     support approvals of new and existing commercial loans.
•    Participate in commercial loan committee meetings and provide credit risk insights as appropriate. Partner with the Chief Lending Officer and CFO in loan review and portfolio
      reporting to the Business Lending Committee, Board, regulators, and auditors.
•    Assess compliance with credit policy, procedures, and NCUA regulations and support exceptions appropriately. Recommend policy enhancements to strengthen risk
     management and efficiency. Support internal and external audits and regulatory examinations by providing documentation and responses as requested.
•    In conjunction with finance and business intelligence, develop and maintain analytical tools, models, and reporting that support strategic decision-making and credit quality
     oversight.
•    Maintain current knowledge of credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. Stay current on market trends, industry performance, and economic indicators
      impacting member businesses and overall credit risk. Comply with all applicable federal and state regulations, including NCUA, BSA/AML, and Fair Lending. Satisfactorily
      completes all required compliance training and complies with all regulations which apply within the scope of the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•    Comprehensive knowledge of commercial lending principles, underwriting, and portfolio management.
•    Advanced understanding of financial statement and tax return analysis, cash flow modeling, and risk rating systems.
•    Working knowledge of credit risk management systems, credit policy, and regulatory standards.
•    Knowledge of collateral valuation methods and loan documentation requirements.
•    Familiarity with economic, industry, and market trends impacting commercial credit risk.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
•    Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to present findings clearly to management and committees.
•    Leadership skills with the ability to train, coach, and motivate staff.
•    Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and financial analysis software.
•    Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
•    Demonstrated sound judgment and ability to make independent decisions within established policy.
•    High integrity and commitment to the credit union’s cooperative values.

 Required:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
•    Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive commercial credit analysis or underwriting experience in a financial institution.
•    Proven supervisory or leadership experience within a credit or lending department.

Preferred:

•    Formal credit training.
•    Advanced degree (MBA, Graduate School of Banking, etc.).
•    Experience with both C&I and CRE lending portfolios.
•    5-7 years of prior experience in a credit union or community financial institution environment.
